I’m expanding my horizons and I love it. I have been frequenting this reading discussion board and am so interested to hear about the books that everyone loves. And I don’t know how I would hear about these books otherwise….I still love my “fluffy reads”, as my friend Mana calls them, but it’s nice to get into something a bit more meaty.
If I hadn’t been lurking on this reading forum I never would have known about: The Bronze Horseman, Ready Player One, 11/22/63, The Fault in our Stars…..those are all amazing books and arguably some of my favorites of the year.
So expand your horizons, read something you wouldn’t normally read. Take a suggestion from a friend (if not for them I never would have read the Hunger Games!) ……anything just read!
In the Car -
I’ve finished 11/22/63. I love the way it ended. This was a great read/listen, seriously. I am a terrible reviewer but I never could have guessed that this story would have developed the way it did. The characters and the story completely sucked me in and I couldn’t get enough.
But it was a lot. So now I’m onto a ‘fluffy read’.
The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks….and then I’m going to watch the movie. Because I can, and because my husband is going to be out of town a lot this fall so a movie like that and sushi is just yelling out my name! and because recently I decided that Zac Efron is hot. I know, this is sooo unlike me! but whatevskis you can't help your feelings sometimes. and because I think he's hot I've decided to give you the movie cover of the book instead of the real one, which I normally can.not.stand.
Reading –
Lover Avenged is finished. I love these BDB books. And I find myself wanting to read them slowly because there are only a couple more left. But the author is releasing two new ones this fall/winter I think.
Now I’m into The Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.
I also heard about this book on that book forum….it’s interesting so far, that’s all I can really say. It’s pretty, fantasy, I guess. And I don’t know if I love that, but I don’t hate it. I’m about ½ way through and I just started it. It’s a fairly easy read.
Up Next –
Anna and the French kiss by Stephanie Perkins
&
Lola and the boy next door by Stephanie Perkins.
Really I am going to read these two books next. But I need to go back to the library so I figured I should just read Daughter of Smoke and Bone now that so I could return it and not feel rushed though the Stephanie Perkins books.
But I did just put a ton of stuff on hold at the library, which is so exciting/addicitive. To see books you want to read appear on a list on your computer…and you know that you’ll get to go pick them up and read them for free?! I love the library and I find my own enthusiasm so obnoxious. So you can too.
