Reading Update 6/07/2012

07 June 2012

This week was a great week for reading!  I’ve convinced my husband that its wonderful I read all the time.  He gets annoyed and I say would you rather I watch reality TV? And he shuts up instantly. Amazing, right?

I’m going to review tell you about what I’m reading but because Summer Book Club has started up I’m also going to mention to you what category that book may fit into for my book club.

See our book club isn’t your typical book club where everyone reads one book and then we discuss it.  There is a list of categories, and we’re able to pick a book that fits within that category.  The categories also have a point value next to them ranging from 5-50.  As soon as I can figure it out, I’ll link or create a bookmark at the top of the page so you can see what I’m reading for each category.  Whoever end up with the most points wins, but win is probably the wrong word because you don’t win anything. Maybe bragging rights, but nobody’s ever done that either…..anywhooo

So let’s get down to it!

In the Car -  I just finished listening to Heart of the Sea by Nora Roberts.  Great story. I loved all three of them.  This book finished out her Irish triliogy.   The nice thing about the Irish triliogy is that I didn’t feel like I was reading the same story over and over again which I feel like happens sometimes when you read a  series. Anyways, the story of Darcy and Trevor was beautifulJ  This was a 15 point read and fit into the category of: read a book set in another country.

Heart of the Sea (Gallaghers of Ardmore / Irish Trilogy, #3)

Next up in the car is The Great Gatsby by F.S. Fitzgerald.  This is a read worth 25 points for the category: read a classic.

The Great Gatsby

Reading – I’ve done a lot of reading since that week! Surprised?!  I finished Dark Lover by J.R. Ward and I also read the next two books in the series Lover Awakened and Lover Eternal.  I think I mentioned last week that I wasn’t sure of my thoughts on reading about vampires, but it doesn’t bother me!  I have the 4th book in the series that I really wanted to start, but I figured if I don’t start the other piles of books that I have sitting by my bed, I never will.  Because there are like 11 books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Can you believe that 11!!

Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2)

Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3)

Anyways, so after the third book in the BDB series I started an easy read, Life’s a Beach by Claire Cook. It’s OK, nothing amazing. I’m a little over halfway through it. I mean it’s an easy read, but after reading so many good books lately I’m kind of bored with it. But whatever.  This author also wrote the book, Must Love Dogs, which was that movie….I think Diane Lane was in it?! Anyways. I’ll probably finish it tonight. Oh and this is a 5 point read for the category: read a book with a summer word in the title.

Life's a Beach

That’s it. I hope everyone else has been reading by the pool this summer:) because I certainly have, my legs haven’t been this tan since I was in high school!
