Painting a Garage Door

14 May 2013

This weekend I tackled a project I’ve been wanting to do for some time now, but I had to wait for the weather to turn so that I could wash the garage door and paint it all in one day.

So here is the before- I thought I had a better before picture of the house but I guess I don’t.

And here it is now!

So what I did.  It was super easy and this is what I did with all my painting projects. Clean, dry, paint, and be patient!  The end result is so worth it.

My list

10 May 2013

I have so much to do this weekend, fun stuff though!

Tonight we’re having friends over for dinner.  I don’t have our deck furniture out yet though because I want to sand and spray paint it before I move it up to the deck…so spray painting is on my list for the weekend!

Also its my nieces first birthday.  I didn’t want to spend a lot of money and so my sister and I decided to split a gift to give her.  I think she’s going to like it for a long time to come!

I’m going to paint our garage door black.  Since we purchased the house we’ve been working hard to fix the curb appeal on our home.  Our siding is gray and the shutters and front door were different shades of blue, now they’re all black.  And I found several photos on pinterest of homes with black garage doors, so I’m going to get that done!

Wish me luck with my projects. Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

My gardening work!

30 April 2013

It’s still raining here so I don’t have sunny/beautiful photos to share with you, only gloomy ones.  But the rain means our flowers and veggies are a growin!

Our planters on either side of the front door – the red flower is a geranium, the tall/purple is lavender, and I forget what the white flower is:) oops!

The narrow flower bed on the right side of our walkway up to the front door.  This is Vinca and it looks sparse now but give it a couple of weeks and it will be have completely overtaken the bed.

Planter on the right side of the garage – these are wavy petunias

Oh and our peonies have finally popped out of the ground!

Our weekend was a whirlwind!

29 April 2013

It flew by!  I love my weekend when I don’t do anything, but I almost equally as much love busy busy weekends.

Quick recap – Friday drinking with some friends. These are my two photos of the night…so yeah.

Saturday – I went to the library and then went to a zumbathon to raise money for Cancer research.

The only crappy thing about that was that it was in the middle of the day so it kinda screwed up  my timeline.  I rushed home to eat something and then went out shopping for flowers!! Love love.  I was able to get most of my decorative flowers planted and the planters on my front porch done.  And we pulled weeds. Gah that is a terrible thing to have to do.  When Ben got home we got started on the garden.  He had put down a tarp on the yard to kill the grass where the garden was going to go and we needed to rototill it and get all the grass up.

That was enough for Saturday.  I don’t think I sat down until 6:30.

Sunday Ben went fishing and I went grocery shopping and cleaned the house.  When he got home we went and bought all our veggies and fruits for the garden and got planting!  That was a chore, and we really need to refine the garden, but we had to get everything in the ground so we put up a temporary fence and will work on the garden bed itself this year.

I also put up a fence around our outdoor HVAC condenser. Every time I drive up to the house I see it and it drives me bonkers, so now its hidden!!  That is on the side of the house where I’m working on adding a flower bed, so its not nearly finished yet. But hey I’m only one person!

Last night I fell asleep at 7:00:( oops!  but so did Ratchet!

It was raining this morning so I didn’t get to take pictures of some of my projects, so I’ll post them tomorrow!

Spring is here!

17 April 2013

And we’re half way through the work week, I could not be any more excited!  My flowers are coming out of the ground and our trees are in bloom.  When we first moved into our house there was no color at all and I’ve worked very hard to correct that but it’s still going to be a couple of years before our trees really mature.  I’m still happy that we have some color though!
