Did I say that?

16 December 2013

I may have mentioned last week that I was going to update you on Thursday after my doctor’s appointment. Clearly I’m a slacker and I didn’t.

But everything is good!  I haven’t gained any weight and I’m not really showing, which is apparently completely normal. And that’s about all I got out of the appointment.  The baby has a heartbeat, but unfortunately the nurse practitioner that I saw didn’t have time for me to listen for more than point 2 seconds. So that was a huge bummer.

Maybe the letdown of the appointment has something to do with me seeing our baby at every doctor’s appointment I went to during the first trimester? I think that might have been part of it and also because I didn’t like the NP that I saw.  I made sure that when I scheduled my next two appointments she’s not who I’m seeing.

This past weekend was a really relaxing and fun weekend.  I did realize on Saturday afternoon though that I can’t continue to keep up with my normal hectic schedules.  I have lots of energy again but that doesn’t mean I should do everything I want to do.  I didn’t sit down on Saturday. I worked out, went to the bank, post office, and grocery store.  When I got home I cleaned the house, and brought a palate of wood into the house since it was supposed to storm. I cooked meatballs and sauce, and about 4 dozen cookies.  By the time I sat down my feet were throbbing.  Note to self, don’t do that much in one day again.

Oh did anyone else catch the Little Mermaid on tv Saturday night?! I haven’t seen it in forever and love it!  I unfortunately fell asleep about ½ way through it though.

Sunday Ben and I spent the afternoon playing with our nieces and then just hanging out around the house.

That is how I would love to spend all my weekends:)

What I should have done

03 September 2013

I feel like I should have been more productive this weekend. I did get out quite a bit, but I also did quite a bit of nothing. Hey it was a long weekend, so it’s totally cool to waste a bit of time and eat too much food.

Friday night I didn’t make it to the library. I really wanted to go but Ben twisted my arm and MADE me go out to dinner with him.  We went to the Green Turtle and its was just OK. for the price of the food I would have expected more.

Saturday I worked out, went to the library, and cleaned.  But I didn’t get that far with my cleaning because we went to a beautiful wedding! I’m so excited for our friends Danny and Melissa.

Sunday I laid in bed and watched a whole lotta Real housewives and then cleaning, went and saw a movie with my friend Janet, threw a load of wash in and went out to dinner.  I did mention we ate a lot this weekend, right?

Monday – I cleaned my bathroom. Watched more real housewives and then went to my IL’s and had a glass (or two) of wine with my mother and sister in law.  I shouldn’t have, but I did….and so I went and worked out.  RIPPED season 13 rocks!! I loved my workout. Oh and then I came home and watched more reality tv….Its not like I was tired after doing nothing all day. Thank you Kardashians and Tamara (bitch is crazy) for keeping me entertained.

And now I’m back in this darned office.  But on a positive note its Tuesday!

I hope all my friends weekend!

Say cheeeeese!

Update coming soon!

Our secret trip

22 August 2013

Ben and I are scootin out!

Right after our failed IVF I needed to leave town. I wanted to get away, and decided going to see my older sister was where I needed to be. It may sound weird that that’s what I would need because she has two kids and is pregnant again, but that’s what I wanted.

She knows what Ben and I have been going through and has been so supportive through it all. But if I go to Dayton and see my sister then I also have to see my mom.  And if my mom knows I’m in town she’ll want me to stay with her. And she and my sister don’t get along very well so it would be hell. For reals. I would spend all my time there being stressed about the awkwardness between the two of them.

So I decided I would sneak into town, hibernate in my sister’s house, and let my heart heal with the love of her whole family.  But then Ben decided he wanted to come, and so it’s a bit more complicated because he prefers to drive. So once there we’ll need to figure out a place to hide his truck. My mom lives a mile away from my sister and if she saw Ben’s truck we would be done for. Also the neighborhood my sister lives in is quite protective, so we can’t just park it a couple of streets over. Someone would call the police to report an out of state vehicle parked on the street.

But we’re braving it and will keep our fingers crossed we won’t get caught.

The flip side to sneaking in town is that I won’t be able to see my grandparents, and I would love to see them. But I can’t. I will be there for approx. 36 hours and if my entire family (approx. 45 people) knew I was in town it wouldn’t be the relaxing getaway I need.

So wish us luck! Tonight I’m cleaning and packing. The plan is to leave Friday morning!! eeek.

Oh and while I’m there I’m going to have my sister cut/color my hair. Don’t worry I’ll post before and afters:)

My Weekend Recap

05 August 2013

I wish I had something interesting to share, but I don’t really.

Friday night I spent the evening cleaning our bedroom and staring at my new ceiling fan. It’s like life changing. And I love it so much I didn’t even turn the fan off to snap a pic of it….

So yeah I promise I’ll take an actual, good photo for you tonight.

Ben’s parents were out of town and so we had one of their dogs Carly over for a sleep over:) you would have thought they would have wanted to play together but I walked in the door and they were all sleeping.

Saturday I worked out which felt so good and then I went shopping and drank too much wine with my sister and sister in law.  I needed this one last weekend to relax and have a drink.   Ben and I are back into the healthy eating and I have a crazy amount of yummy carbonized waters for Ben to drink so he’s not tempted to grab a beer not that that is possible since we don’t have any beer in the house.

Sunday I was a tad bit hung over and went to the pool with my sister, Ben went fishing and then we all took naps. So yeah we’re that cool.  I did get some laundry and cleaning done and felt very content and rested as I made my way into work this morning.

I hope everyone has a good week! And enjoy shark week!!

I’m home

24 June 2013

And feeling somewhat rested! Vacation is always fun and restful, but at the same time there is nothing like being home and sleeping in your own bed.

I was gone from last Friday until Sunday, so a long time!  I have lots to write about but I’m trying to catch up on life/work/everything.

My baby niece was born last night and so I’m anxiously awaiting the end of the day so that I can go and meet her.

Lots to come!!

Have you been wondering

29 May 2013

Where I’ve run off to?

I’m alive. This past weekend was a blast and I was able to spend lots of time with family and friends! My pool party wasn’t all that crazy, but I was perfectly happy with that.  Of course this coming weekend the weather will be amazing and I’m sure I’ll be soaking up some sun!

What else….I started my nutritional challenge for IVF. I’ll tell you how it goes, I’m fairly healthy in general but I eat a ton of fruit which is high in sugars and carbs and they want you to steer clear of too many carbs.

Tonight is family dinner, and really I’m just trying to get through this week. Lots of work, working out, gardening, and food prep at the house.

 Life is taking over people!

We’ve decided to tell Ben’s parents

17 May 2013

When we decided to move forward with IVF Ben and I knew there was going to be a point that we needed to tell his parents, we’ve been debating telling them for some time now.  He works for his dad, and thus far we’ve been able to keep it to ourselves, but with IVF there are going to be more doctors’ appointments and I’m going to need him to bring me to and from the hospital for my egg retrieval and I’ll need his emotional support more than ever.

This means Ben will miss work.  and we can scoot around the truth every once in a while but there is going to be a solid month or more where we won’t be able to.

Saturday night we’re going to have dinner with his parents to relieve ourselves of this burden of holding such an emotional secret.  I know his mom will be supportive, but I’m unsure of his dad.  I love his dad but he’s old school and he tends to make jokes and easily place blame on people.  When my sister in law had 2 miscarriages I had to listen to him talk about the fact that it was her age, that was the reason for the miscarriages. He was ruthless, and it hurt me to hear him talk like that.  I defended her and I prayed my sister in law never heard the way he was talking.  He used to be a dairy farmer, he called her an dry cow.  That might sound insensitive, and it is, but he really is a good man…he just doesn’t respond well to stuff like this.  If we didn’t have to share this information because of Ben’s work than I wouldn’t tell his dad at all.

I’m scared he won’t be able to keep a secret. I’m scared he’ll be insensitive.  I’m scared that all the blame will be placed on me and he’ll tell people it’s my fault when in reality our issue is with Ben’s sperm. But I would never offer that information up because I don’t think Ben would deal with it very well.  I would take the wrath/joking so that he could avoid the pain.

And tractor rides

01 April 2013

So much fun!! How did I forget to include pictures of the tractor ride Ben took David on?!!

And playing in Uncle Ben’s canoe in the backyard

Mass amounts of weekend fun!

My Friday night started off with a fancy dinner out for a surprise 60th birthday party for my mother in laws business partner.  Dinner was good except for when my husband’s brother punched him. Yeah, that happened and wasn’t awesome. who does that?

So our food started out with this palate cleanser, an egg custard w/ crab

Then a salad with a creamy balsamic glaze

Another palate cleanser

And filet!

Then my older sister and her family arrived and we spent the weekend playing with my nephews, coloring Easter eggs, and eating!

My nephews are David and Emmett and David is the older one…those two are going to be trouble makers before we know it!
